"A babe in the house is a wellspring of pleasure." M.F. Topper
Little Abe is almost 5 days old, and mom is starting to come up for air. Everything has gone so fast, starting with the birth!
My water broke close to midnight on Mon. eve, and we rested that evening, with mom getting some shut eye in the chair, waiting through early and relatively painless contractions. We took a few walks between midnight and 9 am, when the more painful contractions started in. Tex and Mandy, the dogs we are taking care of, were wondering why they were getting so much exercise! Contractions were inconsistent and bearable (with Mark's expert support) as the day continued. (We had planned to go through early labor at home.) Our midwife Lindsay advised us to go to the hospital at 4 pm so we'd miss rush hour traffic into downtown Dallas, and we loaded up the car to head to the hospital. At this point, my contractions were 5-8 minutes apart. We checked in at labor & delivery at about 5 and the nurse discovered that I was already dialated to 9.5 cm. An hour and a half later, little Abraham Frank Miller was born!
I'm amazed as I reflect on all of the specific prayers that God answered so faithfully with the birth. From my mom and sister being there, to being able to have a natural delivery, to early success in breastfeeding. It all happened so fast, I found it all so surreal! We came home from the hospital on Wednesday, and are doing well. We've taken a couple of required trips to the pediatrician due to some early jaundice in Abe, but he seems to be doing OK now. Today Aunt Ondina came for a visit, and has been such a blessing to this tired and contented mom.
We'll post more later, we just wanted to let you know the basics. God is so good! Thanks for your prayers and love!

He's gorgeous! I just want to give him a snuggle.
Enjoy your babymoon. The best advice ever given to me (from a mom of 5) was "You can drop everything but the baby."
God Bless.
By the way, how big was Abraham at birth?
He's beautiful and you look wonderful!
