As you've noticed, I have an affinity for quotes. Since Abe shares the name with our great President, Honest Abe, I thought it would be fun to take a walk down the halls of American history, and hear some of Abe Lincoln's quips. You'll see them appearing at the beginning of our blogs.
Well, today was a big day for a little guy. We went to the OBGYN's office today and Abe was circumcised. Most babies in the States (who are circumcised) are circumcised in the hospital the day after birth, but we opted for the 8th day to avoid the necessity of the Vitamin K shot that is given to promote clotting. The Jews were commanded to circumcise their boys on the 8th day, and now modern medicine tell us that babies' blood does not clot normally until the 7th or 8th day, when they are naturally ready for circumcision. It's so fascinating... the Creator knows His handiwork.

I will spare you the details of the procedure. Suffice it to say there was good local anesthesia, and mom and dad prayerfully waited in the waiting room while the doctors did the deed. Little Abe seems to be healing well.
Wow! It's hard to believe he's already over a week old. We have some photos of the babe Abe we thought you'd enjoy. Aunt Esther went back to Las Cruces today. We'll miss her joy and her wonderful servant's heart. We've been eating gourmet meals all week thanks to Esther!
Mommy's happy to be feeling less pain and more energy the last two days. I wasn't expecting to deal with as much swelling and stinging as I did, considering I had no tearing or stitches with Abe's birth, only some "lacerations" (which I understand to be something like a rug burn from the stretching). I've taken a couple herbal baths which seem to be speeding the healing. Thanks for praying for a good recovery.
Pictures, in order: Mr. Wrinkles; Aunt Esther; Great Aunt Ondina who little Abe misses already!
