Last week's village visit didn't quite go according to plan. We arrived on Tuesday afternoon, in time for the 100 day prayer service/ feast at Mark's language helper's house. (Their oldest son died in a car accident in the capital). Wednesday we visited the Lono preschool which opened just last week. Abe was a star pupil (I'll write more in a following blog). Thursday, Mark and I had planned on getting an early start on the day with a jog through the rice fields (one of the highlights of our village stays), but Mark beat me out of bed, with a loong visit to the outhouse. I didn't quite feel my best either, but I figured it was pregnancy nausea.
Mark and I spent the day horizontally, and Abe decided to join the party that afternoon.

All three of us were a sight to behold (with a bowl nearby for what came up and many trips to the outhouse for what came down). We went to see the local doctor that afternoon, concerned about Abe's condition and decided it was probably a stomach bug or bad food from the village feast.
Mark took a few days to recover and we're hoping that Abe is fully well. Thankfully none of us were at the worst of it at any one moment. We definitely hope that is an experience we won't have to repeat!
It did remind us how very much we need your prayers, especially when we are in the village. Thanks for praying for health, strength, and protection for us!

Glad to hear you're vertical again. Bless your hearts and your bodies!
(What's this on the eldest son passing? Must have been long time ago?)
Hi Esther, yes, it was 100 days ago (thus the 100 hundred days past death prayer service). We didn't get a chance to introduce you to this friend, but we probably told you about them. BTW I love your blue bonnet picture with your profile!
