Apple Pies with Purpose

Those of you who have the honor of knowing my oldest sister, LuAnne, know that she is a woman of passion. If I've ever met a crusader type personality, it would be LuAnne. She's tough, tenacious, full of creativity and compassion, and never takes no for an answer. Lu has always had a special place for Haiti in her heart, after living and serving there for five years. When the hurricanes hit mercilessly this year, she got the vision to use the extra apples from the Burke bumper crop to make and sell pies for Haiti. She's become quite the town celebrity, with articles being written about her cause in the Las Cruces Sun News and now the NM State University paper where she is working on her master's in social work.(I'm proud of you, Lu!) She's doing a special Valentine's Day apple pie promotion, so all you Las Cruceans, make sure to look her up! Oh, to taste one tiny morsel...
