Happy Birthday, Grandpa Ray!

Well, actually, "Happy Belated Birthday!" Grandpa Ray's birthday was Tuesday (a birthday he shares with our adorable nephew Jackson Scott. So Happy Number 8 Jackson!) I didn't get very far on my family tributes in January (to those brave family members who came to visit us in SE Asia last fall) so I figured today was a good time for catch up with Grandpa Ray.

("Grandpa Ray"... doesn't that sound like a TV show name? He's an expert in so many things, the possibilities would be endless... "Fix it in a Flash with Grandpa Ray" or "Great Fishing Holes of the Northwest, with Grandpa Ray" or how about "Grilling at its Best with Grandpa Ray").

Some of the qualities I most admire in my husband mirror his dad, and I'm so thankful for the heritage Grandpa Ray has now given our family. Ray's former patients (he's a retired urologist) know him as a man they could trust and depend on, a man of integrity and honor. His diligence and forethought are also echoed in his son. I will always be thankful for the wonderful provider Grandpa Ray is, for the way he cares for his family and makes them his priority, even as he did during his busy career. He is an excellent father and husband, and Mark has followed his wise and sacrificial example.

We love you, Grandpa Ray. We hope this is a special year for you, filled with quiet moments of reflection and rest on the lake and sweet memories with family and friends.
