Meet Patty, our Pajero

This weekend was the grand welcoming for the newest member of our family, our "new to us" Mitsubishi 4 Wheel Drive that we are affectionately calling Patty. (We had to get a girl in the family somehow!) We found Patty in the capital city over a month ago and she rode a boat across the ocean to our home. She's a 7 seater (two pull down seats in the back), ready for flooding rivers (there is a river next to our host family's home in the village) and extra passengers. Sunday she began her "ministry", giving rides home to some neighborhood kids from Sunday school. Patty is a true answer to prayer, as many of you know we've been looking for a reliable used vehicle for months that would meet the criteria for family, village, and city life. Patty's brought along a bit of personality... right now she locks and unlocks at will (sort of like winking at us as we drive along) but after a new battery she seems to be running well. She has a 2.5 L "green engine" (supposedly more fuel efficient) that should be able to handle the hills on the way to our village location. She's a 2002... still in her youth (we hope). Pajeros are the local equivalent to the U.S. Mitsubishi Montero. We took Patty to the beach with some colleagues for her inaugural weekend and Abe had another new beach discovery... mud! He loved it so much, he was glad to share it with mommy.

It's so fun watching Abe grow via your blog. I can just imagine his reactions in great detail, since he and Little D are so close in age.
