I have to say I have the world's best husband. How many spouses would gladly subject themselves to 8 weeks of birth videos (the REAL story kind), disussions of labor, positions, breathing, and breastfeeding, and actually enjoy it? (Maybe the enjoying part was a surprise, but Mark has been as enthralled with the miracle of birth as I have). AND not just that... be willing to be photo'd for the world holding the pelvis demo?

Hmm... maybe I should explain. Linda, the instructor of our natural chidlbirth class that we attend on Thursday evenings has the best demos, that help you visualize the birthing process. Our favorite is when she brings out the floppy baby (able to be contorted like a child's body in the positions it assumes in going through the labor canal) and the pelvis bone. Like a pro (she's been teaching childbirth classes for 30 years) she shows the way the head of the baby rocks back and forth making its descent, and then turns to make room for the shoulders to clear for the birth.
I know you veteran moms out there are probably chuckling at our childlike fascination (okay, it's true... I know there are some other things like pain to consider), but really, it's amazing that a head the size of a small melon can come through such a small opening. The symphony of birth is truly amazing!

Really, isn't birth such an amazing thing? Even with all of the pain, you will always look back, in wonder, on that most special day of your lives!
