I am the proud wife of a soon to be Dr. Miller (technically, a doctorate of philosopy in linguistics, a title officially to be bestowed on graduation day). Mark finds it odd, since the Dr. Miller in his life has always been his dad, a now retired urologist. Mark's dissertation defense went splendidly. Thanks for all of your prayers!
Here are some of his comments on the day...
"Yesterday morning’s dissertation defense went very well, from the public lecture to the private meeting with committee members. They passed me! Also, as we had prayed, some committee members related to me how they had enjoyed and profited from their exposure to the Lono language. Rachel and I sensed God’s grace over the whole event, and we believe that your prayers made a difference.
What a privilege it has been to apply myself to the detailed study of one of the world’s many languages, each one a unique reflection of God’s creativity. The faculty of language is a wonder."
We're heading off to a lake to the east for an overnight camping trip with some church friends. Creation will be the perfect place to give thanks for this first succesful delivery!

Congratulations, Mark! You walked many steps to that milestone. Puja Tuhun, I think.... :)
