Sunday's race

Sunday's race went well. Mark finished in the top ten of the half marathon, and according to the photo (I was out pounding the pavement when he finished) it looks like he could have run another 13 miles with his stride. I, on the other hand, was slightly more winded (and hot), after a mere 10k. It was a great experience, though, and I made my goal time (11 minute mile... better than my ORU "fun" run days!) There were 13 Kenyans in the race, and one of my highlights was standing at the starting line (the races were staggered, with the marathon being first and 10k last), watching the marathon winners blaze into the stadium for their glorious finish. Wow. I felt like a fifth grader watching the high school basketball game. The race finish offered some local flair... warriors flanking the final steps in full head dress, with gongs clanging away.

A Grandma Martha update:
Thank you to all of you who have continued to pray for my mom's healing. I spoke to her this morning and am happy to report she's still feeling good, and has gotten the doctor's okay to come and visit us here in Asia with my sister Esther! They plan to visit the end of November/ beginning of December. Pray for a quick processing for mom's passport and a full and total healing from the cancer. God is good!
