3 for 4

Three countries visited in four months of age. Not bad for such a little guy. Abe has been a trooper in all of our travels so far. He loves to sleep on mommy's lap, (in buses, trains, planes & taxis) or contentedly smile at the strangers admiring from far & close.

Our four days in the Philippines were spent mostly at our organization's guest house (their Asia headquarters). The planning meetings were pretty all consuming, but we did get out one evening for a Manila adventure (much more adventurous than we had planned). We had planned to take a taxi to a nearby mall (appropriately titled "Mega Mall") for some shopping. We were told we could catch a taxi at the top of the street, but after 20 minutes of waiting, we realized no taxi was coming our way (rush hour in Manila can be quite a maze). A sweet Christian family was waiting with us and offered to ride with us on a Jeepney (a large truck style vehicle) to where we could catch a bus to the mall. We found a taxi when we got off the Jeepney (not laden like the picture here) but we had the unfortunate occasion of riding with probably the one taxi driver in Manila who did not know the whereabouts of the Mega Mall. (This was starting to look like a scene from Amazing Race). We finally saw the mall, and told the taxi driver to let us out and walk the rest of the way. We were famished by this time and found a Filipino fast food joint that looked promising. I asked a lady at the table next to us where I could find a baby store and I came to realize that we weren't at the Mega Mall at all. We were at some OTHER mall! No worries, though, we hopped on a train and two stops later found our way to Mega Mall. We shopped for twenty minutes, then found a taxi home. Abe definitely got his adventure for the evening!

We're heading out to the village tomorrow so will be out of internet contact for a while. We've enjoyed reconnecting with colleagues who work in our "neighborhood." Abe has loved meeting more "aunts" and "uncles!"
