Thank You, Don & Pamela!

Last week, we were blessed with the rich & refreshing visit of Don & Pamela, from our home fellowship in Arlington. They listened to our stories, met our friends (including those in the village), ate our food, prayed for us, and offered us words of encouragement and life from the Word. It's hard to express how meaningful it is to be able to share our world here with our extended family back home... there's so much that words just can't describe and even pictures can't capture. (Pamela would probably say the heat would be one example... we needed some air-con bubbles for our guests who had just come from cold weather).
We tried to give Don & Pamela the local experience without going too native. They were blessed to be here during mangosteen season (mangosteen is my favorite tropical fruit... and you have to come to SE Asia to taste it!). The Beachams and Conklins (colleagues here) affectionally call mangosteen the "monkey brain" fruit, due to its unique texture and style. (White slimey segments perfectly arranged). Thankfully I don't mind the slip down the throat texture that characterizes most of the local delights.
The Lord gave Don a picture during a precious joint time of prayer that is a promise we are pondering... he saw a sea of children's faces, looking up and smiling. We believe it tells of the harvest soon to come (spiritual children... not physical, don't worry). Lord, we're calling on you!

a sea of physical children sounds good to me! of course, I'm not the one having them. Did you know that Mangosteen is actually a juice sold in the states...quite expensive. Supposed to be very good antioxident.

Hey, Rach. In this picture, Samuel looks a lot like YOU! :) I should know because I knew you when you were a baby.
