It's mid afternoon in Paris as I write. My husband is probably on a cruise on the river Seine, peering at the picturesque walls of Notre Dame or maybe climbing the stairs to the top of the Eifel tower. He's on a "business" trip, attending a linguistics conference in Aussois (south France, in the Alps near the Italian border) where he will be presenting a paper based on his doctoral work. It's a great opportunity to share his research and interact with other Austronesian linguists. So Abe, "adik" (little bro) and I are "enjoying" some tropical sunshine this week, wishing those cool Parisian nights could be transported our way.

Actually, Mark very graciously took me on a 24 hour getaway to a cool place, in the hills directly above our home outside the city. Abe stayed home with our part time house-helper, a gracious Christian lady who will also care for him when I'm at the hospital in about a month. The Lord sent a rain storm early in the morning (a rare treat in dry season) so it was deliciously cool as we overlooked hills and the ocean below. We had a great time of rest, reflection and preparation for the changes on the horizon for our family.
In the evening we watched a DVD musical that this musical lover had never seen... "An American in Paris." I loved the music scores and apart from some skinching on skirt lengths for some of the lady dancers, it was wonderfully clean and funny. And now my love is walking those romantic lanes himself!

Hey you skinny Minnie! I'm only 7 mos along and I'm about 2x as big as you are ... although I'm sure you feel plenty big enough in that heat.
