On a High House
Unfortunately house raising doesn't leave much leisure time for blogging, so I'll have to catch you up on the last few week's developments. The cement posts for our house found a home.
The frame was put in a week later, and while in the village yesterday, we purchased the iron sheeting for our roof (it'll be a nice forest green). (This pic is from a few weeks ago)
Mark and I had a nice moment in the "rafters", taking in what the view will be from our front porch (the part of the house to the side of the present ladder). There won't be many views of the river because of the banana trees, but there is still plenty of green, and hopefully a nice vantage for catching breezes as they come.
Here is Mark, talking with our host brother, who is our "foreman". All the wood is painted with termite protection paint (the greyish green color)
There have been a few challenges... constant requests for advance payment on the building (contracts, even in writing, are always negotiable), and a post and wall beam that weren't quite straight. (!) Thankfully the mistakes were caught in time for some quick revision. Abe had fun at the neighbors, overseeing the project.:)

It's coming along, looks like.
Sure Abe likes Sukri's (?) wheels:)
