On July 28, Sam turned one year. We celebrated his first year with a family visit to Pizza Hut (his first piece o pizza, which he thoroughly enjoyed) and a later "first cake" ceremony with colleagues on the weekend. Abe, for his first, was the recipient of a traditional village feast among our Lono friends. Since Mark was busy with a workshop during Sam's big day, and since Sam was recovering from a mild case of chicken pox, we decided to keep his celebration simple. We'll save the village shin digs for another happy occasion. Sam loved his first cake... and jumped in wholeheartedly as he always does.
I had to chuckle that my "frosting in the tropics" did not improve since Abe's Charlie Brown cakes. It was still melting off every side of the cupcake. Thank the Lord for Styrofoam accessories!Sam enjoyed celebrating with our adopted "Aunts", "Uncles" and cousins. Here he is bringing on the smiles with Aunt Amy.
We love you, little guy!
