"You knit me together in my mother's womb." Psalm 139:13

Last week was "baby week." We toured the hospital where we will be giving birth (Baylor Dallas, by a midwife), we had our first (and probably only) sonogram, and we started natural childbirth classes (Mark gets a massage every night this week for our first relaxation assignment. Not bad timing since he defends his dissertation before his faculty committee on Thursday morning!)

The sonogram was definitely an AMAZING experience, to see our little one doing calisthenics in my belly, before our very eyes. I quote Mark.... "Everything on the ultrasound checked out OK: brain and spinal cavities, heart ventricles, etc. We have quite an active little one growing inside Rachel's womb! It was amazing to watch the baby's twistings and turnings and kicks, and to see such details of the hands and feet and eyes on the screen."

Here is baby Miller's arm... does it not look long and lanky?

And baby Miller's leg...

Baby Miller's foot... (it looks like it's pressing against my belly... focus on the middle of the picture)

and the adorable face. The nose looks a bit long to me. I think it's a Miller nose but Mark says it looks like me... we'll see! (In the first photo, baby Miller is looking straight at the camera. In the second, he/she is looking up).

Now for that other part of the anatomy... the gender identification part... the technician turned off the video and turned the screen. So our little one will remain a "he/she" until its anatomy is analyzed on its birth day. (The weird thing is that our midwife knows!)

Yeah! Welcome to the world of blogging!!

I can't believe you aren't finding out if it's a boy or a girl!! How is a girl supposed to plan?? Just kidding! I am just jealous that I don't have that kind of self-control... we didn't find out with Emily, but it wasn't for lack of trying!

Wow, Rachel. This site is amazing. Thanks for all the updates and photos from your ultrasound. My new niece/nephew is sure looking cute! We can't wait to meet this little person who will so wonderfully change your lives! Our prayers are with you, as always, especially on Thursday for Mark's defense. Keep us all posted!
